Board Member Spotlight

Name: Tomoko Miller

Pronouns: She/They

Position: Chairperson

Favorite Show: Little Shop of Horrors (it's the show where I fell for my future husband)

Tell us a little about yourself: I was born & raised in Flint, and have lived here most of my adult life. I love animals and plants, and have a house filled with both. I enjoy video games and sci-fi, and I'm kind of a Trekkie. Also, a fan of Bollywood, especially Shah Rukh Khan!

I started acting in high school, and became enamored with it during college. Over the years I started helping paint sets with the man who became my future husband. I've volunteered in almost every job there is to do around FCP, acting, set painting, set design, sound design, worked the box office, ushering, running lights & sound, office work, costuming, and I've even done some building repairs. Eventually, my involvement turned to directing, with my first show in 2015, Dog Sees God. For a short while I was even the office manager.

I joined the board in 2020. It's been an incredible responsibility, and I love it. I love the people. I love that there's always something new happening.

How long have you been with FCP? My first show with FCP was in 2001.

Why did you join FCP? I joined the board because I wanted to ensure the next generation of theatre lovers would get to enjoy what I have for so many years. I love being part of what makes the place keep ticking.

What do you like most about FCP? I love that anyone can find their home in theatre. Whether you're into performing, or you just want to hide in the tech booth, there's a place for everyone.

Pet of the Month

Ollie

He LOVES chips. He will quite literally come up behind you and bap it out of your hand, like a little cat ninja.

Volunteer of the Month

Kristen Rossiter

Everything Kristen helps with turns out incredible. From her onstage acting, to her prop designs, and everything in between, she always puts 100% into everything she does, and helps others see the best in themselves. Her prop work and puppet making for Firebringer are awesome and will keep audiences awestruck!

Thank you Kristen!
